I bought my Coupe with "float gauges with sleeves" on all three tanks. When ANY of the three wires hit bottom, there is still lots of fuel left...... So, they are not CALIBRATED either for their present application. On the plus side, I NEVER have never found water in my gas after a rain storm if left out in the weather away from home and hangar.
Longer wires on the floats would solve the problem, but then taller sleeves would be useful too. <g> BTW.... my sleeves are PLASTIC, not glass. They do get old, brittle, discolor (from auto fuel?) and are breakable. These are protected by the glass sleeve, like the newer nose tank floats. Isn't that the cheapest, most reliable, and maintenance free solution? > Jerry Eichenberger > Columbus, Ohio > N2906H >
