One problem is that each mail program is different. On mine (elm),
the size of the file is shown. Thus, I don't bother trying to "read"
the big ones. Others may not have a "stop receiving" button, so once
you request a big one, you're stuck until it completes.
Regarding the WWWeb page. Many of us have one, like me:

They are easy to set up. I used the resident text editor, but Microsoft
Word has a "Save as HTML" option. Then the .htm is uploaded to your ISP
(Internet Service Provider, AOL in your case). But, again, each ISP has
their differences and I don't know how (or if) AOL does it.
