I had an external wire break on my 10 amp generator. Fortunately, my
mechanic had just removed a recently rebuilt 20 amp generator and new
regulator from a Cessna 140. The Cessna owner installed an O-200 that
already had an alternator with it. The mechanic removed mine and
installed
the 20 amp generator and the new voltage regulator, all for $40.00 plus
my
old generator. Works just great. I use a hard-wired handheld,
transponder,
nav lights, belly strobe, interior lights and a landing light with no
problem at all. Unless you have equipment drawing lots of power, I
wonder
if the expense is worth it to convert to the alternator?
