Don,

Get Skyport SMK-46 which details the steps to convert a C to a D Note
that this bulletin claims that conversion from a C75 to a C85 is NOT
required although it is desirable.

However, converting a C75 to a C85 is very easy (and the C85 is type
certified for a 415D)

You need to change the carb venturi, change the dataplate and change the
propeller (pitch)

That's it.

You should not worry about the engine too much. Many C75 have been
converted to C85 because it is so easy.

You want Continental Service Bulletin M47-16 (Page 11) which lists the
parts required to make the conversion.

Optionally you may want to also add the D type engine baffling around
the oil tank (really lowers the summer oil temp but a bear to install)
and the D type trim tab.

Thanks to everyone who responded to my distress call for parts.
I now have
a valuable source list for Ercoupe parts. Unfortunately, I have
run into a
couple of snags on my project. My AME has found some
discrepencies in that
the aircraft appears to have been at least partially converted
to a 415 D,
but there doesn't seem to be a paper trail to back it up. Swell
I said.
Also, given that it may well be a 415 D now, the engine I bought
for it (an
A-75) will not, according to my AME, work in there. Really
swell. My AME
is doing some more research and I'll keep you all informed on
this saga as
it progresses. Can anybody remind me why I'm doing this
again?!?! Just
        kidding, of course.
Thank you all again for your support.
