So that's what it is!  Brackets for one of these (but no belts) is
installed in my Alon, purchased a year ago.  I wondered whether it was a
"home grown" installation as there was no log entry and it didn't look
airworthy to me.  My mechanic/IA concurred and said he would consider
submitting it to the FSDO.  

So, I'm still looking for a solution.  I'm looking forward to seeing your
solution.
