Leslie, Sorry, you ALWAYS steer a 'Coupe with the yoke (even if it has rudder pedals). You can add rudder pedals if you want but the nose wheel is not involved.
My 415C has rudder pedals and I have flow a 'Coupe without them and they do not do a whole lot. I can use them to correct a crab on landing but at cruise my feet are flat on the floor. I do have a heck of a time every time I rent a Cessna trying to figure out how to steer<G>. My advice is to not worry about it. If you want to steer with pedals, don't get an Ercoupe. (Of course if you do not get an Ercoupe you will miss flying on a beautiful summer day with the top down and your arm out the window). I'm new to the group and have a question. I flew an Archer to the fly in Ercoupe breakfast at Morris, Illinois a few weeks ago. After taking a ride I found myself lusting for Ercoupes ever since! The Archer now feels like a Chevy station wagon to me. My question is regarding (of course) the rudder. I really, REALLY like to have the rudder pedals connected to the nose wheel. I understand the Alon, Mooney, and possibly Fourney variants had this. Is there an STC or 337 procedure for retrofitting this on the 415c/cd/d? -- Leslie M. Watts ITW Advanced Technology Group (847)657-4559 http://www.netcom.com/~leswatts/leswp.html
