Joe - unless the owner pays you significantly to take it off of his hands, I'd run from it. The biggest problem in coupes is corrosion, and from what you describe, I'm surprised the center section hasn't fallen apart just sitting there. You could buy a cream puff airplane for far less than you'll likely spend getting this hulk barely airworthy. There might be some salvageable parts worth a few bucks, but I doubt if this bird will ever fly again, economically rebuilt. The engine is likely shot if it's been sitting outside in NY for 10 years, so factor that in too. Jerry Eichenberger Columbus, Ohio N2906H
>>> Joseph Bonanno <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 11/04/98 04:41PM >>> Hello, my name is Joe, I live on Long Island, NY and may be acquiring an ercoupe from a friend who has moved from the area. Problem is that he moved 10 years ago, left the plane and it has sat unattended, outside these past years and is a wreck. Do any of you ercoupers have an idea(ball park figure)if it is worth the time and trouble to bring to flyable condition. Most likely needs everything but the plane is solid and straight but glass is broken, cockpit open to weather, basically sat idle for ten years. Love the plane but want to know what a complete refit may cost, best case, worst case scenario. HELP! E-mail when able, until then, happy landings! ! !
