Hi Everyone! My name is Zach, located in Dallas, and I am really excited to say I just bought my first airplane--and it is an Ercoupe! It is a 1946 "C" Model, Serial #119 (N41889). It is all dolled up like a little warbird, and the owners spent fifteen years restoring it to original--or better--condition.
This sounds like a sales pitch, but it isn't! I am just really excited, and I would like to know everything I can about these Erplanes. I have already done quite a bit of research, and everything I have read seems to be favorable. Of course, I showed my Mom the article in AOPA, and needless to say the only thing she picked out of the article was the part about the fuel tanks leading to fires, etc. Anyone have any comments or good advice for a guy who is anxious to spend some time in his new 'Coupe? I don't have a lot of time in other aircraft (other than helicopters), so I don't think the lack of rudder pedals will affect me as much as it might a seasoned pilot. Any tricks, tips, care, etc? Cool places to fly? I am thinking of also doing some custom interior work (maybe some bucket seats, and four-point harnesses, etc.. any recommendations for who does that sort of thing? I don't have a champagne budget! :) I am really enjoying this mailing list, and I am especially glad to have found it! Thanks in advance for your comments! Zach
