On a flight home from Coalinga Ca. in our C-75 we notice that we were
using fuel from our center tank even though our wing tanks showed just
less then 1/4 tank. By the time we reached our destination our center
tank sight glass showed what we thought was near empty. The top of the
float rod was near bottom, say 3/4". After we landed we filled up the
center tank and it only took 2.2 gallons in a 6 gallon tank. The cork
must be saturated and sit low in the fuel.
So what do you think?+++++++++++++

I had the same problem with the fuselage tank one day. I found the
float
wire was bent a little which caused the float to vibrate down but it
wouldn't come back up. I straightened the wire and the problem went away.
If on the other hand the cork is getting saturated you can do what
I did
for my left wing tank gage. I soaked the cork in lacquer/epoxy thinner
then
put the float into the toaster oven at 250 degrees for 8 hours. I bought
some two part marine epoxy that said it was impervious to gasoline and
painted the cork with it. After the epoxy cured the float once again
floated high. Good luck.Jack G. N103JF
