I have a round STEEL bar located behind the
seat at frame E. It is connected with angled aluminum from one side of
frame E to the other side of the fuselage at frame E just below the rear
windows. I can find no reference to it in any literature that I
hold. I was looking at installing the large baggage compartment and from
the information sent to me by Lee at Skyport I have most of the pieces for the
modification already in place but what is the bar for?? Anyone have
a guess?
Of interest, While removing the paint
from the stabilizer, I found 5 rivets where the head of the rivet had seperated
from the body. It appears that the paint was holding the heads in
place. Makes me wonder about the rest of the rivets on the
body.
Second question. After the new improved
rudder rib is installed in accordance with the service bulletins and memos, the
two holes on the outboard skin where the rudder horn bolts USED to pass through
remain empty. As I understand the instructions, the holes are plugged
simply by putting a screw and nut through the hole and tightening as they
provide no structural purpose. Am I reading this right?? On my
coupe, one of the holes in each rudder is empty and when I removed the rudders,
I can hear a nut rattling around inside. The only way to replace it would
be to remove some of the rivets on the skin and then
re-rivet.
