Charles McKinnie, and others who have responded. I too had finally tracked down Barnstormers Aviation/Fred Lagno. I really appreciate all of the effort to help me. I spoke with Fred on the phone late Thursday night and expressed my check, etc. He said he would have the paperwork ready and send it right back. Incidently, I had tracked Fred down by looking in the EOC membership directry and calling a coupe owner (Al McNeal, Alon) who lived near Queenstown, Md. He didn't know about Barnstormer or an Alon STC, but he suggested I call Buddy Hopkins, who lived nearby and who was a real aviation buff. Buddy knew Fred, and in fact Fred had used Buddy's plane as part of his STC efforts. By insinuation, I think Fred went to a lot of trouble to get the STC, and the $85 cost is reasonable. I think my membership in the EOC is worth the ability to reach other coupe owners, and to be reached, so I would encourage everyone to participate. Although there are not a lot of Alon owners out there amongst us, it might be helpful for Charles to put the STC info into the Arizona Coupe Group newsletter; and Ed B, maybe you can get it in the EOC newsletter. Incidently, John Wright in Jacksonville, Il and several other coupe owners and A&Ps I have spoken to about the issue of the alternator and the Bendix v Slick mags, have universally promoted the change to the alternator and the Slick mags. John Wright indicated that the Bendix mags are time consuming to rebuilt and, in his opinion, are subject to future ADs. I think he has routinely encouraged the Slick mag changeover on lots of coupes without much hesitation. Although the 35 amp generator is adequate for my electrical needs, the alternator is (suppose to be) more reliable. Charles, if you want a report on the total cost, or any other info on the changeover, let me know. Kenneth Doyle Springfield, Mo Alon N5477E
