Thank you, Andy, For the opportunity to respond. As we all know, the Airspeed really measures pressure differential between a "static" source and "ram air." Some planes, like the Cessna 150 I used to own, have a "static port" on the side. You have to watch that guy so you don't get dirt in it, or airplane polish. You also have to watch the pitot tube, which supplies the ram air. I had a but nest in mine one time that made for an interesting trip around the patch! Now, if the static souce is the inside of the cockpit, then opening and closing the canopy will effect it. I suggest you get a friend and go out flying. One holds the plane steady while the other notes air speed. Then move the canopy/windows to various settings and check the air speed. Make notes for analysis on the ground. Regarding sticking air speed indicator. Did you rap it with your knuckle a couple of times? As part of a preflight? Just thoughts.
