The only guage I have is the cowl tank - a simple float... It seems to me
the
other guages are "fluff" - as you should have left with the wing tanks
full;
know the fuel burn, etc, and plan for appropiate fuel stops.

My wing tanks are not fitted with guages, no provision, though the
fuselage is
cut to show guages if they were there... As to floats in the wing tanks...
.just another place to add water to the fuel..

When the guage in the fusalage tank begins to sink, its time to find a
landing
place....either you are out of fuel, or the pump has quit working.

By the way - that brings up an issue you should be aware of...The
inspection
of the fuel pump screen, etc on annual. I have witnesses several coupes
that
had failed fuel pumps after the annual, because the cover on the pump was
not
tightened properly. This allowed air to be drawn into the pump, instead of
fuel from the wing tanks...Just be aware of the proper torque on that
little
bolt...Fuel pumps are expensive...The originia pumps were filltedrillings
to
accept a quick drain - to be drained at pre-flight - but I don't like the
idea
of draininf fuel areund the cyl head.... or a leaking quick drain that
drips
fuel on Cyl # 1..... With a proper drain line attached, it might be
appropiate
to explore with your local A.I.
