We had so many problems with the glass fuel gauge on my early model coupe (ser578) breaking and leaking fuel into the cockpit that we put a plate over it and put cork float gauges into the wing tanks, just like the header tank.
Seems to work well, except for the the problem that the gauge shows empty after 1/2 tank is gone. But since I have an O-200 with a fuel pump, I know when the mains are gone because a red light comes on the dash to show that the fuel pump is no longer pumping fuel. But I would like to figure out/find better float gauges. Anyone had the same problem? -Tom -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of rich Sent: Sunday, June 14, 1998 6:39 PM To: Coupers Subject: fuel tank gauge, My coupe has the aluminum fuel tanks and the left tank contains a fuel gage that can be viewed by the pilot by looking down. I removed the gauge as the gageglass was dirty and found that the whole shebang is rusted solid. The only thing that can be salvaged is the cork and the indicator strip. I have looked in Univair catalog and skyport but can't find any reference to this fuel indicator. Does anyone have one for sale or know where they are available. If I can't find one I will duplicate it in Stainless steel to stop it from rusting in the future. Richard [EMAIL PROTECTED]
