I just got 41 Charlie out of annual Saturday and came up with an interesting finding this time around. When I originally planned to take it over to my IA I had a problem with my headset and unfortunately being on a controlled field couldn't get out. Bill my old flying partner went over and flew it to the IA for me a few days latter while I was at work. With the smoke from Mexico we've had some days the viability was really bad. That day was pretty good though. Oh well at any rate while I was running it up and checking control movement a small rat had apparently gotten in the tail cone and was back in the controls for the elevator and got crushed to death. Bill noticed a smell but didn't have time to investigate but control movements were normal. The IA had to remove the spring to get it out. The Forney has a spring to add feel of increased back pressure when the elevator up angle exceeds the original Ercoupe's specs (The Forney will stall). The bottom line is that normal control feel was not different but in a week of so no telling. I was lucky no nests or apparent damage. Just remember to do your spring cleaning guys
