Jack, Re front end alignment. Looks like you need to have a look at the complete rigging. The proceedure is to lock the mixer in a neutral position with some wooden blocks, then adjust the aelrion push rods so that the aelrions line up with the wing trailing edge; reposition the chain linkage on the controls so that the control wheel is level,; adjust the rudder cables so that they trail;( you also need to lock the rudder bellcranks in neutral) then adjust the nose gear linkage.
Evidently the cpoupe is out of rig - I am not aware of different length push rods for the nose gear, but one thing may have happened, if I remember correctly: the aeliron push rods are slightly different lengths (may not be true)_, and if they were removed when the wings were off ( sometime in the past), they may have been improperly replaced - left side for right side, etc, then the coupe rigged to compensate ???? just thinking out loud --- This would result in the mounting position of the nose wheel push rod - on the main control column - be in the improper position, resulting in insufficient adjustment being available. You could check this by checking whether the aelrions have equal up position, when the control wheel is turned to full right and left. There is considerable differential movement of the aelrions. With the aelrions lined up with the trailing edge of the wing, the rudders should be trailing the vertical stabilizers, and the conrtrol wheel in 12 o'clock. If you tie the tail down, nose wheel; off the ground, you can easily turn the controls right to left with no excessive pressures on the control system, and check this all out. The Mixer is behind the seat, under the baggage compartment, or baggage floor if you have the extended compartment. This is all covered in the Ercoupe Service Manual, page 23 - 27. You can obtain from Univar @ 303- 375-8882, for about $10.00 or so. Be happy to fax you a copy of the pages. Have fun, fly safe Harry Francis 93530 Blacksburg, Va - BCB
