Dave, I live just about 12 West of Fort Worth, Texas in a town called
Willow Park. I think we see eye to eye onlarge amounts of real estate. I
learned to fly 29 years ago, just out of high school. Had my Commercial
one year later. I was very fortunate to have a CFI who insisted on
teaching how to fly the airplane, and not peaceful co-existance with the
airplane, as most contemporary CFI's tend to do. He used rubber suction
cups to cover the instruments. I had soloed before I ever looked at any
instrument on the panel. All by the most accurate flight instrument ever
designed, your butt in the bucket. When we practiced forced landing, we
did it for real, out in the middle of no where, mag keys in his right
pants pocket, that smirky little grin he gave when he was saying under his
breath, " lets see you get us out of this one",dead stick to a full stop.
Then he would give me the keys and off we go.
