Howdy you all, I am new to this couper mailing list and have been looking at it for a short time. Several things jump out at me. First, most of you seem to be a little scared of the Coupe. She may be a little unorthodox but thats what makes her unique. Dont try to force habits and conventions that belong to the Cessna and Piper people. I soloed my first coupe in 1969, I have about 500 hours in coupes, which means that I am by no means an expert. However, the best way I ever found out what the airplane would or would not do was to go out and try it. I never had serious water in fuel tanks. routine maintenance was all that was required. Practice cross-wind landings, they are fun, and you never know when you will need to. Fly the airplane at the speed it is comfortable at, learn to feel what she needs, she will tell you. The Ercoupe has amazing slow flight characterisrtics I flew one around the pattern with zero airspeed, more accurately, I mushed around the pattern with zero airspeed. Spring has sprung, go dust em off and enjoy one of the finest airplanes ever built.
