Jack, the max oil temp is listed by continental as 225 degrees F. I experience 185 -190, here in Virginia. You need to get this high - about 200 degrees to boil off the water condensation. If you are experiencing higher temperatures, I would check the timing, and mixture -so you arn't too lean, and shrouds in the engine compartment. Of course the temperature guage could also be off. If the compression is good and equal, I wouldn't expect much blow by. If excessive blowby is occuring, the rings may be stuck, or not seated properly. This would cause high oil temp, also.
