Jack, I doon't know of any problems with the original nose wheel attachment. However if you have to replace the nose gear cause you smashed it, etc, or because it becomes worn out, etc., etc., then I think that only the double fork gear is available for replacement.... let's check with Univar on that one --- So if the double nose gear fork is installed, which is about 3 inches ??? higher than the single attachemnt -then the attituede of the coupe is nose high - tail low - giving the coupe a positive angle of attack when taxing or after landing roll. With a positive angle of attack, the plane wants to fly, as it generates lift. Weick designed the plane to be sitting tail high when taxing, or after landing roll, so as to NOT generate lift - making the Ercoupe safer and easier to handle on after landing roll - especially in gusty coonditions...
