I looking at purchasing a Coupe. I have
noticed many Coupes without transponders. I thought that if you had an
electrical system, you had to run a transponder? One person told me that he had
an exemption from the FAA since a transponder would not fit behind the panel
(due to the fuel tank). Forgive my ignorance, but I have been flying a
rent-a-cub for the past years and they don't know about 'lectrical
things.
I plan on flying by myself most of the time. In
order to get insurance from Avemco I need 1 hour of dual. Problem is I hit the
buba factor at 230 pounds and I don't know if I will have a problem getting a
"normal" adult in the plane with me for the checkout. Any thoughts? My
only thought was to fly with minimal fuel in the wings and keep the flight
short.
