An excellent question. I've often pondered this vary question myself. I
just comfort
myself in the knowledge that this rule was made after two airliners came
together
over the Grand Canyon in the fifties, and that where I usually fly, no one
is going the
other way! Where the crusing altitudes would make a difference, I think,
is over
common routes in the mid-west, where you could actually encounter some
one.
Most of the collisions can be avoided by staying to the right of Well
Known
Flyways, like I-5 and the Columbia River. Sure hope you and your grand
son
enjoyed the Blimp Hangars!
