Its pretty easy to explain really. 51 cents US buys one dollar Australian.
This makes buying Australian made stuff for Americans a real bargain.
Of course the question is raised "but don't Australians have to buy the
parts for making these things from the US thus increasing their
costs" Nope! We make most of it or import from SE Asia. All good parts of
course as you will find most of the electronic components do not come from
the US but SE Asia.

Most Australian business are run along similar lines to the US so as long
as you take the normal precautions buying in Oz should not cause any
problems. We have been buying from the US for years and it is uncommon to
get caught out with no delivery or bad product.

Companies like Jabiru and X-Air are just two examples of excellent product
at affordable prices. No I do not have any interest in either but I do
intend installing the MicroAir in my coupe when it is finished.

There are other companies that make terrific ultralights which we cannot
sell into the US because of your archaic ultralight rules. Did you know we
can register and fly a Aeronca Chief here as an ultralight? I must do the
numbers and check if I can do the same with the coupe. How about a
Spitfire
with a 3300 Jabiru engine flown as an ultralight. That's already
available.

Unfortunately the US is pricing themselves out of the world market at
present with the high value of the US dollar but more importantly it is
making it very hard for me to buy the necessary bits from the US to finish
off my Coupe.

Now if I could just buy the manufacturing rights from Univair think how
much we could save on bits by making them here. Hmmmm!.
