I don't have any hard evidence about donuts or springs,but am
sure there are many later coupes with rubber suspension. This is the
kind of pea brain thinking that costs us all so much to keep flying. I
don't know what your mechanic charges, but a professional who knows what
he's doing, should be able to complete that main leg spring changeover
in one day, including re and re the wings! I suppose he is trying to
cover his rear end by going for new style springs, but I would say it
was tottaly unneeded to spend that kind of money. Sorry I can't be more
help.
