It seems that the worst effects are in the DC area. That
airspace was pretty bolloxed up to start with, between
the triple-TCA and the various government/military spaces.
But worst of all, there seem to be more outlying airports
(like our dear College Park) underlying the restrictions
than up here in New York.

In the NY Class B, we've killed off such a large percentage of
close-in GA airports so long ago that there is hardly anything left
be too badly affected :-(

Dave can probably give us some insight into BOS.

I think we're mostly in 'Phase 2' of the effects. For
example, if I want to get to Montauk, my most
direct route is up and over the NY TCA. No can
do. So I have to deviate, perhaps into weather,
inland, or over water.

Coming back from North Adams MA, I found myself with
rising terrain and lowering ceilings to the West, sloppy
haze in front of me, and nice clear air, under Class B,
to the left.

On a cross country of, say, 500 miles on this coast
you could easily find yourself in one or the other of the
above situations repeatedly. Say you wanted to fly
from coastal Maine to North Carolina. Okay, the
weather alone would be a nightmare but throw
the 3 TCAs in and you're in VFR hell! Maybe just
fly to Seattle, south to LA, and back East again.

People have helped each other out quite a bit. We've
been doing car shuttles for TFR 'escapees' and finding
tie-downs at outlying airports. But we can and should
get back to normal.
