Hello Coupers,Well I thought it was going to be a kinda easy repair of my gas sump drain mounting flange with new revits and some PRC BUT, guess what It was not by along shot.Even couper Joe C (fishin) was there to witness a total failure of the easy fix nightmare.As the fuel ran all over me , my son and Joe when all the mounting rivets broke when I tried to remove the banjo fitting on the bottom which hooks uop to the fuel line.The tanks were empty we were rapping it up thinking all was gunna be OK So now I'm in big trouble cuz I can't fly home in the coupe which I've not flown since 9/11.Any way I got a nother tank from a fellow couper.It turned out to have a crack in it accross the ridge on the top.No problem it will only leak if I fill it up.DUH no way .I called a welding shop and the guy says yeah I do aluminum.Now this shop was out of the phone book. I went there and the guy says to me is this from your Ercoupe I went WHAT? HE remembered me from my old airport he is a pilot too, has a cherokee.What a small world .He did a very nice repair and pressure tested it.What a small world.Not only that but he is a Bow Hunter for Deer Whitetail.I usta do that too. Any way I've got to Acid etch ,Alodine and paint this tank b4 I put it in Mybe I'll fly before the stinko weather hits. Hey you all on the Left coast any CRABS left? Mike Dean and I and the midwest coupers need CRAB.WE want crabs.(RIGHT MIKE??). OH yeah Joe C (fishin)made me the best canopy cover.For my coupe It ROOKS MARVELOUS fits like a glove (should fit like a cover) --;) Thanx Ole buddy WE need to get mine up so we can get you some more time b4 you fly your coupe.
