Weight and balance is not rocket science, although they
need to know it. The thrust line has to go through the
center of mass.
Your mechanic may not know how to do it, so just work
with `em, fill in the form in your Pilots Operating Handbook,
and get `em to sign it.
Fuel can be a problem if you have quite a bit of gas that
you do not want to throw away for an 'empty weight.' One
trick is to fill the tanks, weight the plane, then subtract
the weight and moment of the full tanks. Be sure your
mechanic understands whatever you do.
