That'll work. As will getting behind the power curve (but catch it at
least 
200' above
the point where you want to stop falling and put the nose DOWN). Or if the

canopy
is open, sticking out various bodily appendages (most people use arms).

After the first 50 hours or so in the plane, descents tend to be better 
planned :-)
