Hi all,

propeller position on the shaft really doesnt matter- except for a few
instances:

        1. During the "old days" of 65 hp taildraggers the A&Ps were
taught to install the prop at the 10 oclock 
           position when #1 cylinder is at TDC to facilitate hand
propping. This is where most of the prop 
            position theory comes from .

        2. With wooden props, through trial and error you could find the
place where vibration was the lowest.


        3. On a turboprop like we have at SkyWest, if we have spent 2
hours doing a dynamic prop balance
           then if the prop is removed and re-installed we mark it and
put it back on in the same place.
