Here is what I think. 1)Forney did away with the flange on ribs. Right?
The
little I know would say that that would weaken the wing. By skinning the
wing
with Aluminum it would in affect make the hole wing stronger. and by
riveting
on the skin across the rear spar make it also stronger.
By this standard the Ercoupe wing that is also skinned is in fact
stronger
that the Forney wing. Now think about it and write your thoughts.
Without the list of changes of Forney the D wing skinned would carry
more
than 1450#
Times like this do miss my dad. He could have worked the math.
