Warren I don't care what you think. Someone asked me after 7000 hours in
ercoupes, which one did I think was the best. So I
told him the Alon A-2 old gear with rudder pedals. Try a strong crosswind
without your rudder pedals with spring gear once.
The rudder pedals are only good for about a 15 mi crosswind after that you
will not  have any pedal to be able to hold it
strait, so you will have to crab alittle,  the old gear it is better than
the spring for landing in a crab!.  I have seen alot
of photos of Alon aircoupes and M10 that have been lost on landing with
spring gear. If you love spring gear, so what! As far
as the big rear window, it's better to look around when your in the
pattern for other traffic. . He asked me for the best
ercoupe all around, not the best in CA.  gene
