Thanks For all your suggestions. Last year @ Blyth,Ca.at the gas ramp, on start up, the engine backfired starting a fire under the cowl fed by this drip. A quiick extinquished was done by the pump operator. The engine would not start due to the oxygen depletion from the fire. What a mess, smoke, soda, soot and burned rubber
from the engine baffles.
Contacted Univar - could supply new float needle. Didn't have seat
$135.00.
Skyport - had float needle and seat. Sent me to Rend Air - advised to
replace
with Marvel Carb at $1,200.00/pop. Ted said Strombergs have been leaking
since the Derlin needle came out and the use of cheap Neoprene swelling
caused the fuel flow to stop.
Looking at the Stromberg manual, it advices to lap the seat and needle
with
lapping compound. After I determine that the leak is coming from needle
and
seat, I will use diamond lapping compound to seat this valve. Let you
know
the results.
