It would be interesting to know if these case's have been with auto gas
or 100LL. I have owned 3 different Alon's and have flown them 400+
hours and have never had this happen. Breaking down my hours
all but approx. 5 hours have been with 100LL. The 5 hours that I have
flown with Auto Gas has been on my present Alon. All of
the Alon's I owned had the Auto gas STC but have just started
to use auto gas.

<< Warren; John did not know the reason, he only stated that Alons have a
history of the engine quitting. The only engine failure he has had in 25
years was an Alon engine, just after take off, and they could find
nothing
wrong. Ed Smith is in the Tampa hospital after the engine quit just after

take off in his Alon two weeks ago. Another Alon owner at Sun & Fun
indicated
that he had his Alon engine lose power on take off. When he got it to the

hanger, they could not get any fuel to run out of the gascolator, but
could
find no cause of the problem. I did not see Jack's comments, but I think
this
is what he is referring to.
