Larry; The Alon has the gascolator mounted on the lower portion of the firewall. Alon service bulletin 19 lowers the gascolator an additional 3-1/4 inches. That puts the gascolator about 8 inches below the carburetor fuel inlet. Service bulletin 19 asks you to ensure that the fuel line routing from the gascolator to the carburetor is always running up hill to the carburetor. There has been some contention that it may be possible to have a vapor lock, especially with auto gas. However, I have not seen any definitive data to indicate this.
