Speaking of nicked props, I fly off native graded desert sand and gravel
and
have now 10 hours using "Prop Guard" on the leading edge outboard 16". I
highly recommend the product. I wish I had put it on before getting and
fileing out a bunch of nicks. At $60 for 48", it is a little pricey but
you
get enough to do it twice. You can tell it is working as there are scars
in
the plastic, probably from larger hits, but no evidence the underlying
metal
has been damaged.

BTW, the locals have taught me that on sand/gravel there are a few simple
rules to follow:
Don't run up standing still and never stop if you can help it.

Don't cob the power to take off all at once.

Hold back on the stick to raise the prop & get the nose gear off the
ground
asap.

Put a fender on the front tire if you can. Keeps the rocks that get
picked
up in the tire grooves from getting thrown into the prop.
