What disgusts the hell out of me is that the $99 Magellan GPS12 that I
bought
as a good-to-have back up in case my 12-channel Lowrance Airmap 300 fails
has a receiver that is VASTLY SUPERIOR to the Lowrance. Not much
difference
in flight, but on the ground the Magellan will get a solid fix under sky
obscuration
conditions that baffle the Lowrance.

I can toss it on the center console of my Audi A4, where it can see about
10%
of the sky, or on the passenger seat, and the damn thing gets and holds
running
fixes. Walk past a window in a building, and BINGO!

And that's just 18 months newer technology.
