Greg,
The window frames use rivets for attachment.  The screws are probably
shredding your welting, right?  To replace the welting it's necessary to
remove the seat, seat frame, interior side panels,  the metal side panels
beneath the interior pieces, the trim control cable.  This has to all come
out to be able to apply glue to the welt channels and to insert the new
welting.  Not a fun job.  The bottoms of the channels are particularly
"fun"
to reach.  For myself, it's a two day job.  There's a clear lubricant that
comes in a caulking gun tube that really works well to grease up the
inside
of the welts so your windows slide smoothly.  I _think_ 3-M makes it but
not
sure....somebody on the list must know.  When you glue the welts in, use
cardboard or something to stuff inside the welt to hold it against the
channel and let it dry overnight.  Beforehand, make sure you clean the
channels up nice and remove all the old glue and crud in there.  Have fun!
