Ed,

I don't know that hours tell us anything. Example...a person with 10 years

of experience on the job may have 10 years or 1 year repeated 9 times. I 
think judgment makes the pilot, and only you can tell that. Some people 
handle the mechanics of flying very well, but there is no smoothness or 
intuitiveness about their flying. To me, when the airplane feels like an 
extension of me, then I am competent and confident to fly it. Thats my 2
cents.
