Hi all, Well, after I wrote my previous Email I headed up to the airport (with the key to the plane - BAD IDEA scared me to death!) I found that the fabric was largely tight again (I am not usually so optimistic!) I got to thinking about it and I figured that the looseness was caused by the awful stickiness in the hangar. It had been rained on inside yesterday when the door was up and all that water evaporated in there overnight and it was nasty. I figured that caused the sagging so I put the plates back on and went flying 3 T&G's as there was about a 10 mile clearing in the clouds. Unfortunately, the fabric had apparently NOT actually returned to regular taughtness. The plane didn't climb well and the odd thing is that it was yawing everywhere when turning, so much that I could not coordinate with the pedals! Actually, I took my neighbor Bill Jones 415CD owner for a ride yesterday and it scared me to death with its poor climb but we thought I just wasn't used to carrying a passenger! I had to use full right rudder to keep it straight down the runway yesterday but I figured the light wind was the culprit, and then I thought maybe I had accidentally cross controlled, resulting in the poor climb. It usually takes very little rudder. Anyhow, the fabric is now puffing out a LOT on the left wing in flight, much more than one would expect from how the sagging looks, and I am quite worried. I'm not flying it again until I redo it. It was yawing so much to the left when turning final that it was no joke, I did not have enough rudder to take care of it. It is supposed to be Polyfibre and the fabric is stamped as such but I think maybe it has butyrate or something on it as I think the moisture has caused this or maybe the shock of going from outside to back into the hangar. It is also supposed to be a 1979 job but I am almost 100% certain it was recovered at the time of the 16 holes AD, though it is not in the logs. Sorry for the long Email but I thought you all might be interested. At least the wings look absolutely great inside no corrosion somebody said they looked better than new. Glen Ward
