Dick is right. In 35 years of going to Mexico, I have never used a passport. I have walked across the border; driven into the interior; traveled in trains; and planes and only used a drivers license or, when it was not available, a voter registration certificate. Trust me on this, passports and paperwork are not necessary to get in and out of Mexico! Just bring a good attitude!
