Coupers; We made it from Kalispel, MT to West Yellowstone this AM. However, the clouds and below freezing temperatures kept us from flying direct. We stopped in Bowman for fuel, and followed I 15 and the red rock river to West Yellowstone MT. The trip meter shows 5115 miles in 53 hours and 8 minutes since we left Florida on May 27th. I ended up using a little carb heat today because of the low temperatures and the moisture in the air. We
flew next to several showers that were not reaching the ground and I found that a little carb heat gave us about 100 more RPM. This PM we drove the North loop of Yellowstone National Park. I had forgotten about the bad fires here a few years ago. A lot of the area we drove through today was ravaged by fire. However, we did see Moose, Elk, Bison, the famous geysers, and lots of tourists. Joel was particularly impressed when we saw a small geyser erupt late this PM. Tomorrow we plan to take the South loop and stop and see Old Faithful erupt. I hope we see some bear, but it looks like their population has declined greatly since I last visited the park.
