Bruce; I think that you will find either the Bendix or the Slick, if you are buying new, will do the job. There are several ADs on the older Bendix models, so that creates a problem sometimes. If you are going to replace the harness too, I think that either Chief Aircraft or Aircraft Spruce has about the same deal for new Slicks. It will cost about $800, after the rebate of
$150, for upgrading the whole system. I checked with Unison before I bought new mags last month, and they do offer the rebate if you are replacing either the Eismann or the Bendix mags. Your old mags are worth $150 each, assuming they are not the old throw away Slicks, as cores on the new ones. The drive gears off the old mags will fit the new ones, however, I recommend doing a Magnuflux check on them just to make sure they are OK. Just don't forget to remove the gears before you send in the old mags to get back the $150 core deposit on each mag. New gears cost about $400 each from Fresno Airparts. Lots more if you buy them from Continental. If you are looking for further advice, call John Wright, Sr., at 217-546-0585.
