What about using better mike muffs? Neither my Dave Clark H13S nor
my Denali headsets (both passive) had an acceptable degree of mike
muffing for windows open operation without the addition of one of those
Super Muff kits. The ones I use have the fat foam cover over which goes
a little leatherette drawstring bag.

Beware, they also muffle your voice so you may well need to increase
the mic gain on your radios to compensate.
