Hi Dennis; I have flown for 2 years with the static inside the cabin. (Just got it fixed to the pitot last month.) When the windows are open there is a vacuum created in the cabin that will cause you alt to read about 100 feet
off. The VSI didn't matter much. The problem comes with the airspeed. My readings were about 10 mph different with the windows open vs closed. I got used to it but since I got it fixed it is now wonderful to get an accurate reading on everything.
