----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]---- Hi Coupers, Congratulations to Syd Cohen, Alan Cuthbert and Jack Arthur for winning awards with their coupes at Oshkosh. I haven't seen Alan or Jack here on the net, but a couple of us might recognise Syd's name. He was already on "coupersmailinglist" way back when I first joined. Nice going Syd! I don't think I saw your coupe while I was there, if you have a scanner how about posting a picture of it here so we 'jealous guys' can get a look at it. I saw Don Mack's coupe parked out there with his name on it but I didn't get to meet him. Well, maybe at the 'Coupers Banquet', but I met so many people there and didn't get their names that I'm not sure if I met him or not. I was the guy with the white "Oregon Ercoupe Erforce" T-shirt and the Yellow Ercoupe Cap. I tried to meet as many folks as I could but Rita kept me laughing so hard with her ""Waitress Act" that I'm sure I missed several of you. Did anyone get a count of how many were at the banquet? I started to count several times during happy hour but everyone kept moving around. Then when we sat down to eat I forgot to get a count. Also, how many signed in at the Type Tent? The last time I noticed the list it was up in the mid 80's I think. Last but not least, a very special "ATTA-GIRL" for Mary Corrington. She's from our "Oregon Ercoupe Erforce" wing of EOC and she flew her M-10 Cadet all the way from Eugene to Wisconsin alone, solo, unescorted and all by herself where she joined up there with the "Women with Wings" Group and arrived at Oshkosh with the "Chick Flight". They got their names and pictures in the local paper and when I saw Mary there she was smiling from ear to ear and gave me a copy of the paper. As if that wasn't enough of a feat, when she left Oshkosh I guess she forgot that Oregon is WEST because she headed EAST with plans of circling the Statue of Liberty and taking some pictures from a 'Coupes point of view'. I haven't heard from her yet so I don't think she's back yet, there was some nasty weather heading that way towards the end of the week so I hope she stayed ahead of it. I wonder if there is an award for flying the most miles 'round trip' to attend Osh??? Good going Mary, e-me when you get back and have a few minutes to spare. (I know it might be a little while before you'll want to sit down after you get back but you have my phone number and you can do that standing up. <g> It was a 'fun week' at Oshkosh and I'd like to thank John Wright for the outstanding information that he shared with us at his seminar. And a hint to everyone (anyone) who doesn't take 'corrosion' seriously, you should see some of the stuff that John has to show that he took out of coupes. I wonder how many lives he's saved by doing 'his style' of annual inspections on our aging planes? I wish he wasn't so far away from the west coast, I'd love to have him go through mine and check it out. (Ever thought of loading up a motorhome and trailer and going 'on the road' John?) You could head NW and make a big loop and go back home one year and then go NE and make a big loop back towards home the next year. Rita could keep us entertained while you and 'Little John' worked on our Coupes. <g> Hey, I didn't mean to turn this into a novel. Sorry about that.
