----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]---- Joa; The heat muff flanges are attached with rivets. At least the ones in my hanger are. I would suggest taking the muff off the muffler to drill the holes for the rivets. I know that there is not much room to work, but if you take out all the screws on the muff, and remove the hoses, you should be able to work the muff off the muffler.
