Dennis,
My wife and I flew down to Meigs for the open house too. We couldn't
bring the Ercoupe as it is still
getting a new instrument panel installed so we flew there in our '47
Bonanza. We couldn't park with the
rest of the show planes as the city limits the show space, so we had to
pay the normal landing fees
($35). I imagine this is just another way to try to chase people away in
order to try to get rid of
Meigs. I talked with Jerry for about 30 minutes and then looked at the
rest of the planes. I saw
yours, but no one was around and I couldn't find an owner's name on it.
Now I know it was yours. You
are right about landing at Meigs as it is very strange doing the pattern
out over the water and then
coming in to land on a strip of land like an aircraft carrier. Not scary,
just strange! I also
commented to my wife that it looked just like Flight Simulator 2000 as we
were going in except we missed
all the buildings I usually hit! It was a beautiful day and I agree with
you about the flight down the
lake shore as it was great. (Somehow I missed the topless sunbathers
though!) If you ever get up our
way (Guntly Memorial, 62C, just south and west of Mitchell's airspace)
please stop in as I would enjoy
meeting you and finding out more about your plane.
