Steve;  Yes, there is a modification to put the cup on the bottom of the
main 
gear oleo strut. Skyport has it available, call Lee at 800 624 5312 to get

the kit. You can leave the O ring installed and add the cup to the bottom,

however, you will have to remove the 5606 hydraulic fluid and use good 
quality disk brake fluid after installing the cups. 
Regarding the second question about timing the engine, I have not read his

books recently, so I cannot advise you. I find the hardest part is getting

the timing marks on the crankshaft in a position where I can read them.
Since 
they are on the bottom of the flange when the engine #1 piston is at top
dead 
center (TDC). I mark the top of the flange with, the prop removed, at both

the TDC mark and the degree marks required for the timing. Then the next
time 
I want to check it, I can see the marks without removing the prop. I know 
that there are fancy doodads that tell you where the crank position is,
but I 
do not own any of those.
