----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]---- Steve; Yes, there is a modification to put the cup on the bottom of the main gear oleo strut. Skyport has it available, call Lee at 800 624 5312 to get
the kit. You can leave the O ring installed and add the cup to the bottom, however, you will have to remove the 5606 hydraulic fluid and use good quality disk brake fluid after installing the cups. Regarding the second question about timing the engine, I have not read his books recently, so I cannot advise you. I find the hardest part is getting the timing marks on the crankshaft in a position where I can read them. Since they are on the bottom of the flange when the engine #1 piston is at top dead center (TDC). I mark the top of the flange with, the prop removed, at both the TDC mark and the degree marks required for the timing. Then the next time I want to check it, I can see the marks without removing the prop. I know that there are fancy doodads that tell you where the crank position is, but I do not own any of those.
