An 8" venturi is designed to drive 2 gyros (AH and DG) at 4" each. The gauge and both gyros should be connected to a 4 port manifold. (4th port is the
venturi). This is all designed for 100kts or so. If you cruise slower, you'll see less. A decent AN type gyro will work well at 3.5 inches. At 5" it will probably wear faster. If you plumb the gauge directly to the venturi you will get a meaningless reading because it's at zero flow.
