I too became a Ercoupe Glider pilot, only I was too low to the ground (1200'AGL) when the engine started vibrating badly. RPM dropped to 1200+/- and I started a rough decent over a large city with no place to land . Then things got worse. The motor stopped and the prop froze at one o'clock. I held the nose down to attain about 60-65MPH and looked for a street. Found a small pasture but plane didn't make it through the landing. I walked away. Good landing !!!
